rule 1 · the filaments

A filament is the overlap of two communities.

Every epoch, the holders of each coin are read. The weight of the filament between two coins measures how much of their supply sits in the same hands.

w(A,B) = Σh ∈ HA ∩ HB min( ah , bh ) ah and bh are the shares of A and B held by wallet h, in percent of supply. The sum runs over eligible wallets holding both coins. The weight is itself a percentage, between 0 and 100.

Why the minimum

A wallet with 5% of A and 0.1% of B links the two coins by 0.1%, not 5%. The smaller position is the real overlap.

Counting wallets would reward whoever creates the most addresses. The minimum does not: cutting one position into pieces never adds weight, because

Σi min( ai , bi ) ≤ min( Σi ai , Σi bi )

Equal split: same weight. Uneven split: less weight. Pieces under the threshold: they drop out entirely.

Who counts

  • A wallet counts only if it holds at least 0.05% of each coin.
  • It must have held that position for at least one hour.
  • Excluded: the bonding curve, liquidity pools, pad accounts and program accounts. A bonding curve holds a large share of every new coin; counted as a holder, it would link everything to everything.

Compute w(A, B)

Change the shares, the holding time or the account type. Then try splitting the first wallet.
